An asylum seeker has been jailed for three years for robbery, burglary and theft offences in Northamptonshire, during which he used a fire extinguisher to gain entry to a service station shop and sprayed a worker. Ibrahim Ahmed, who is believed to be 28 years old as a result of a Home Office assessment when he entered the country, of Buckingham Road, Deanshanger, was sentenced at Northampton Crown Court on Tuesday December 9.

A man has been jailed for more than five years after causing the death of a 76-year-old in a collision when he was driving over the legal alcohol limit. Derren Goddard, of Harmans Way, Weedon, was sentenced to five years and four months in prison and disqualified from driving for 92 months at Northampton Crown Court on Friday (October 10).

A religious leader has pleaded guilty to allowing two 16-year-olds to marry at a mosque and he will be sentenced at Northampton Crown Court next month. Ashraf Osmani, aged 52, of Abington Avenue, entered guilty pleas to two counts of carrying out conduct for the purpose of causing a child to enter into marriage before their 18th birthday. There was one count for each child, one boy and one girl.

Former racing driver given six-month driving ban after going 96mph down Northants A-road

A former racing driver has been given a six-month driving ban after travelling 96 miles per hour down a Northamptonshire A-road, exceeding the limit by 26 miles per hour. Mark Blundell, aged 59, of Arrington, was not in attendance at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on October 8 but his barrister entered a guilty plea to the offence on his behalf.

Two men sent to prison for GBH which left victim with dripping blood and ‘enormous’ swelling for ‘no reason’

Two men have been sentenced to 30 and 20 months respectively after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm (GBH), which left a man with a dripping blood, “enormous” swelling and bruising earlier this year. Sean Patrick Conybeare, aged 36, of no fixed abode, and Nathan Lucas, aged 33, of no fixed abode, were charged with Section 18 GBH - wounding with intent back in May. This was later changed to a Section 20 GBH offence.
